Danube bend (Dunakanyar)

The Danube bend (Dunakanyar) is probably the most beautiful place in Hungary, where the wild and beautiful landscapes are pretty rare (because most of the country is a lowland).

So, where to go camping when you have some free days, close to Budapest? Dunakanyar is in the very north of Hungary, close to the Slovakian border where the Danube crosses the hills and cliffs of Visegrad.

You have islands, spectacular views from the top, historical cities like Szentendre, Visegrad and Esztergom.
Enjoy the pictures 😉

The river level was above average those days so many trees and beaches were flooded.

The island in the right is where we camped first night and that hill is the place where we planned to sleep next.

Definitely the perfect place to camp after a long day, with a view to the citadel and the Danube.
